History of the journal
The journal "Izvestiya of Saratov University. New series" (ISSN 1814-733Х) has been published since 2001. Its predecessors are the journals "Izvestiya of Saratov University" (1910-1918) and "Scientific notes of Saratov State University" (1923-1962). Since 2005  the journal "Izvestiya of Saratov University. New series"  has launched  a separate series "Izvestia of Saratov University.  New series. Series: Physics".  (ISSN 1817-3020 print, ISSN 2542-193X online)
 
The journal is intended for readers involved in the field of physics and engineering education, physical science research workers, University professors, undergraduate and graduate students and organizers of production.
 
Aims and objectives of the journal
The main aim of the journal is to reflect modern ideas about the physical picture of the world, contributing to the development of educational and research activities in the field of physics and its applications.
The objectives of the journal are:
  • publication of original scientific papers in various areas of physical science and its applications (including nanotechnology and other critical technologies) in accordance with the content of passports of specialties of scientists in theoretical physics, radiophysics, physical electronics, solid state electronics, optics, laser physics, biophysics;
  • publication of scientific and methodological materials that contribute to the improvement of the educational process in the physical and engineering-physical areas of training;
  • publication of scientific reviews on priority areas of science and high technologies;
  • publication of historical information about Saratov University, its mission in the field of physical education and physical science.
Articles should be prepared according to the rules of the journal.
 
Publications are free of charge.
 
The languages of publications are Russian and English.
 
The journal is registered in the Russian science citation index (current contract with the NEB No. 342-06/2013 of 25 June 2013). It provides information on the published scientific articles within three months.
The articles are available on the websites of SSU, RSC (eLIBRARY.ru) and in NEP "Kiberleninka" (www.cyberleninka.ru).
The Journal has entered into an electronic licensing relationship with EBSCO Publishing, the world's leading aggregator of full text journals, magazines and eBooks. The full text of JOURNAL can be found in the EBSCOhost™ databases.
The journal is included in the List of leading peer-reviewed scientific journals and publications, which should publish the main scientific results of dissertations for the degrees of Doctor of Sciences and Candidate of Sciences.

The journal is peer-reviewed; the content of the review, review processes, decision-making and notification of the authors about the publication are determined by the relevant rules of reviewing, including:

a) choice as reviewers of the leading experts in the subject of the reviewed materials (doctors of Sciences) having publications on the subject of the reviewed article within the last 3 years;

b) keeping the review for 5 years in the editorial office and the publishing house.

As a result of reviewing, the Editorial Board sends copies of the review or a reasoned refusal to publish to the authors.

In order to ensure the preservation, usability and accessibility of the journal content (journal and article metadata, the full texts of the articles) for long term availability the following systems are used:
