Estimation of Glucose Diffusion Coefficient in Human Dura Mater

Background and Objectives: Optical clearing of dura mater caused by hyperosmotic immersion liquids is important for the development of noninvasive methods of brain optical tomography and for the study of microcirculation and homeostasis of tissue fluids. It allows significantly increasing the spatial resolution and the probing depth of brain.

Influence of 40%-glucose Solution on a Human Corneal Structure

Effective treatment of the patients with postoperative corneal edema is one of the actual problems in ophthalmology. In this paper results of complex monitoring of influence of 40%-glucose solution on the state of both normal and edematous cornea after a cataract phacoemulsification on the base of date of confocal microscopy and optical coherence tomography have been presented. It has been shown that the glucose solution induces a short-term swelling of the healthy cornea and dehydration of the edematous one, as well as optical clearing of the tissue in the both cases.

Optical Clearing of Human Eye Sclera by Aqueous 30%-Glucose Solution

In this work, optical clearing of human eye sclera in vitro under action of aqueous 30% glucose solution was studied. It was shown that diffusion of glucose in tissue results in significant decrease of light scattering, which manifests itself in both decreasing reflectance and increasing transmittance of the samples. At that, absorption coefficient does not change. Measurements were performed with spectrophotometer CARY-2415 in the spectral range from 400 to 800 nm by a standard method.
